On the outside, press the "C" button first (or turn the thumb turn as far as it will go).On the inside, just turn the turn knob or thumb turn to retract the deadbolt.On the inside or outside, just turn the knob (or lever or thumbturn).If you are going to install this lock above an existing deadbolt, you will need at least 3-1/2 inches from the bottom of the deadbolt down to the top of the large hole for this lock.
